@shaninebuller91658 years ago The crap thing is, I don't think a lot of people (man and woman)realise how hard pregnancy is on the body, how dangerous child birth is and have NO idea how many woman died before medical assistance was available.
It would be good if men could understand that pregnancy would need to wait until things settle down if at all possible, maybe two or three years at least.
I've been trying to think of a way to get the point across in a way that gets this point of view across without being accused of it being a femanisim pc view point. It's not, it's purely practical.
As is our ability to survive, the men and woman who survive will be strong and self reliance will be a skill they can call on even if they haven't actually thought about it much. The amount of men who are convinced that the government have their backs is ridiculous.
I think that lots of woman know that the government doesn't have their backs in many places, because the government controls what they can and can't do. In the USA men talk a lot about their right to own guns, and I see why, but woman have their right to decide whether to have a child or not removed in those same areas.
You do not want to worry about being pregnant or worrying about a person you love being pregnant during a SHTF situation if you can help it. Having access to longer term options is important, learning about natural methods before for when or if that all runs out is also essential.
you don't want or need loads of pregnant woman in times of food shortages when the land isn't prepared for growing food or won't be able produce enough to sustain the community you potentially build. Breastfeeding woman need more calories than Evan pregnant women, then consider that as those kids get older they will also need to eat, and be protected for years!
That's what I've been trying to say, I hope I get the point over enough to make the mindset of woman are valued because we can make babies group of thinkers understand why it's not practical even if they can't see us as anything else.
Also as well as the ones who see us as humans first with skills, knowledge and experience with the ability to work and provide the things needed to survive.
As for men being stronger, I'm not going to deny this, but you need to understand that this is exactly the reason why woman need self defense skills, hell mastering a few disarm and disable skills and moves that the men wanting to attack woman won't see coming will give an edge to survive. Nerves to press, because let's face it we will need to learn close contact escape methods, we might need to be prepared to do more as well.
If I'm alone with my kids, I'm going to do whatever it takes to be around to protect them. I know I might fail, but it's safer to try, and be a fighter than a victim.
Unless you follow the woman in your lives everywhere thru go, you can't always be there, you can't predict a SHTF situation.
The wildfire might bring that home for many people.
You might find a huge surge in Prepper mindsets, even if it's keep fuel in the car, a bag with things you need close to the door and food and water in the car and other places.
It might start with a prepare to escape plan, then build resources. It might also need to involve what to do if you can't get back home, self defense, a meet up place when waiting is impossible.
Yes men are stronger, so give your daughters all the advantages to get around this that you can. Give her permission to fight, never tell her that if a woman flirts she deserves rape, it might happen, but it's on the rapists. excuses should not be made for them.

@randomcoyote88076 years ago I could be over-simplifying things, but it basically seems to boil down to "women will tend to think more in terms of long-term strategic survival & sustainability; men tend to lean more towards tactical needs & defending/fortifying". There's an amount of cross-over of course. So in other words, men & women need to work together in SHTF to make sure all the bases are being covered. Yeah, I know, crazy, huh? ;-) ... 7

@heidi12617 years ago My ex used to say that anything that can bleed for a week and not die is pretty formidable. Girls learn about pain and discomfort at a young age. Some whine and want special priveledges; others deal with it and keep on keepin on.Either way, she doesn't get a lot of sympathy from the world. Estrogen makes a woman make decisions that are not in her best interest. MGTOW is fine with me, and, I suspect, a lot of other women. Men don't recover from testosterone. It will forever color the way they see women. I can imagine a scenario where women would pool their skills band together. Some would be warriors while others would take care of children, cooking, cleaning, etc.Older folks would be mentors, teachers, and repositories of knowledge for all the things you don't learn until you've been around for awhile. Yes, most women are smaller than men, with less body mass...but not ALL. I am 5'8", and raping me in my younger days was more trouble than it was worth. Now I'm older, less attractive, and a lot sneakier. Men tend to go at a problem by using muscle mass; women generally will try a kinder, gentler way until we decide force, seduction, or just plain lying through our teeth is needed to get the job done. I imagine most of us will hide out, and wait until the uproar dies down. Hopefully, the guys who appreciate women will be the ones to prevail. No, I'm not a feminist. No, i'm not lesbian. But my Mom always used to tell me to remember that husbands sometimes die or become ill, and I should be prepared to have to carry his load as well as my own. That is what it means to be a female prepper. ... 7

@richard61338 years ago The woman in Proverbs -31 sounds like a prepper. It says that her value is beyond that of the rarest metals and gemstones.
In it's context, it's basically saying that woman who is wise, industrious, kind, and caring is the reason why a family prospers. That includes the man. What this looks like in terms of today can vary widely; but like most of the rest of the book of Proverbs, it's the principle that's the point.

@OH8STN8 years ago Already subbed to a few of these awesome channels. I'll check out the others. I have to say I was really surprised with a different perspectives from all of these different women. In fact, if I've learned anything during the series its men tend to put women in a cultural stereotype which may not always be accurate. prepper potpourri once said "she appears to be a helpless granny". after watching her channel for a couple of years I realize that she and many other female preppers are many things but helpless isn't one of them. I certainly don't agree with all of the opinions but the different perspectives is a welcome relief. ... 23

@TheHystericalsociety8 years ago Great video, and I look forward to the next one! I see a recurring theme. Female preppers seem to be more concerned about their children, nutritional provisions, meds, and birth control. They also seem to be more willing to go out into the community and ask for- and offer- help. Women are- and have always been- traditionally more open and sociable. (However, this may not always be the wisest course of action) In regard to the "lipstick question"... I'd like to make the basic observation that women are generally the cheerleaders for their families. The morale lifters. If the kids and the spouse are used to seeing Momma with a gun on her hip and lipstick on her lips- then the lack of lipstick & perfume & a clean blouse will have a demoralizing effect on the family unit. A worried and haggard demeanor will make it much worse. And yes, I'd rather be the only woman in a group of men than try to get along with a group of other women & small children. I don't think of myself as "manipulative"- I am happy to cook on a wood stove and be a nurse, voice of reason, and walking encyclopedia of "old mountain herbal remedies". I do these things every day, anyway. I can "make do" in just about any situation. But, I'd like to be appreciated and protected while I'm doing it. Or at least, valued. If there's no man around to appreciate a woman's skills and offer protection- well, there's still that firearm on her hip... Most prepper women will be more OK than you might think. I'd like to see you explore more closely the problem of one spouse (be it male or female) who is concerned about prepping- and working on it hard and fast- and the other spouse isn't interested (or is in denial). I strongly feel that the sometimes-disconnect in perceptions and goals between partners needs to be addressed. ... 8

@LChavez70078 years ago Ok, and before. I think, as a female firearms are a single force multiplier that goes to work in your favor when the time comes. So maybe I'm not the coddle type, ok.  Was in the Army for many years, perhaps that's where I get it.  I have a son, I've taught him to be self reliant as well. Activities such as, learning to drive when he was 12. Shooting when he was 8...laundry also. Taught him to cook ( I told him it was science you can eat!, he loved the idea) He makes some slammin chocolate chip pancakes! He knows how to grow plants too. Although we don't garden, we save seeds from what we buy. This, I think is a fault of ours as we live in the city of ST. Louis, Mo. However, he has been on my prep rounds and has helped stock the storeroom. He's now off to collage. Yes we have a plan to reunite at the "retreat"  I've done the best I can during very tight financial times. Bless you women! Thanks Canadian Prepper ~ Luisa ... 23

Womyn tend to be a lot more private and don't share a lot of the prepping stuff because generally it is not expected of them; it's not considered feminine and nice or pretty and flattering. @gray56278 years ago Really enjoyed listening to the different perspectives.  I agree, preppers come in all shapes, sizes, and backgrounds.  What makes a person decide to prepare for possible SHTF scenarios could be any number of life experiences, or epiphanies.  I believe there are many folks who are preppers, but have never thought of themselves as preppers.  My parents lived through the Great Depression, and I can assure you for the rest of their lives they believed in preparing for an uncertain future, even though they would not have considered themselves as preppers. ... 4

@JamieHitt8 years ago Another great installment in the series.  Pertaining to the interview questions, I feel the timeline of events (and where you find yourself on that timeline) will have a massive influence on the answers to those questions.  Weakness comes in many forms and has no regard for sex or gender.  Most advantages will evaporate within the first ninety days, leaving men and women on equal footing.  You either made the cut, or you did not.  A healthy female will out compete a sick and injured male.  Or imagine it this way, ...a year into a SHTF scenario, what caliber of males and females still exist?  I wouldn't want to mess with either of them.  And given that 365 day elimination process, those surviving women would actually now have a significant advantage.  Whatever they have been doing has obviously worked well for them. ... 4

@tamaram43387 years ago I subscribed after you interview survival Lilly. I like your videos but I have to remind myself not read the comments section. Some of the men in this comment section sound like they want a SHTF event just because they think a Woman might need them. Feminism may not have a place in SHTF but either does male chauvinism. People with skills will be counted on for their skills regardless. The closest the majority of the population men included have come to any type of survival skills these days is in a book or video game. The people with relevant skills will be counted on. I think it is funny too because if you go back in history Women might not have had the same rights but they had to have more skills to keep the family alive. None of the skills men are talking about in these feminist rant are even difficult skills to learn. Okay end rant. I am just not going to read the comments anymore. I know these are just a few men but man they make me glad I married a woman. ... 5

@briantrease74028 years ago What I take away from this video and the answers given by the female preppers is the lack of narcissism that will be highly prevalent in a true SHTF scenario. This can be seen in the many examples of shtf that has occurred in war torn countries . In fact the reality that children provide a food source in extreme conditions or that pets and animals are food sources before standard consumables are exhausted reflect this obscene ideology. Venezuela is at this point now and we should pay very careful attention to what happens there as a test experiment in the lack of or loss of humanity. ... 4

  • @
@jameshill68728 years ago I think in a SHTF situations most women are at a disadvantage because they are traditionally not prepared to handle extreme situations in their upbringing. Not all women fall in this category but society expects men to step up and except the challenge while women are given a pass. I have never heard a woman ridiculed for avoiding a conflict for not fighting back. Cooking skills and a nurturing nature are important but men and women need to know the same basic skills period. Basic first aid, water gathering and purification, basic weapon handling and marksmanship, how to pound a nail in straight, thinking straight under pressure, basic home security, how to work hard and stay focused and most important how to work together. A SHTF situation is the ultimate in equality among the sexes. You die and/or maybe cause the death of others by being unprepared regardless of your being male or female or transgendered. Like the honey badger ,disaster don't give a f**k! ... 1

It is ESSENTIAL for life and in an SHTF situation knowing we have that taken care of is crucial. That's a HUGE element for survival and preparedness and I don't see any options on the website example: cloth pads, period underwear (has built-in protection), and/or something like a 'diva cup' (it's like a tampon but a cup that goes inside you is washable and reusable). And also for both sexes condoms which are important to stave off disease and prevent untimely pregnancy for both individuals. Thank you ... 1

@reneebrown55986 years ago Everyone needs to be a jack of all trades. That is the only way they will survive. Men will need to learn to cook sew and store food. The reason I say this is what will happen if one of you gets hurt or killed the rest will already know how to go on and keep the group alive. ... 2

@clarky8493 years ago Good video. this lady is talking sense. In SHTF (to use a crude phrase) after the initial weeks to months people will be banging like rabbits!
She explained that regular sex WILL result in most women falling pregnant fairly regularly. Even prepper ladies aren’t going to be entering any Hunger Games while pregnant. Remember, birth control will be rarer as SHTF progresses.
Single women will quickly realise they need security and food and they’ll likely shack up (willingly) with a man or group and will most likely be sleeping with them... offensive perhaps, but true... women who want to avoid this should learn from these prepper ladies and other channels, reduce the chances, get and be trained to use a weapon.

@anthonyhowells88148 years ago Great to see the Womens perspective on this. Really. I didn't even know it existed on youtube. It has been 90% Male for me other than Patriot Nurse, Survival Lilly and a few others recently.
Most the Women in my life either shun or laugh at or 'tolerate' prepping.
Good to know some Women are that involved in our survival.
They are right on many points but there are so many points that are so generalised it makes me feel victimised as if it is a massive seperation between men and women. Whatever I guess... I guess Men deserve these generalisations because it's ok to talk about us these days as if we 'just that way': not good cooks, nurturers, home-keepers, negotiators (I laugh because I am all of the above and grow veg work Hort so F u etc)
    .
One thing none or maybe one of these Determined Women addresed is the history of what happens in wars and seiges etc like Bosnia and Iraq and count the cities...I lose count. Men had a certain role...and depending on your situation, skills, status and preparedness....and godamm luck is what determined your outcome over the next few years under seige in shtf/hell. Women had same possibility of outcome depending on same factors. But often Women (and some men) had to do things...for a can of food or some rounds of ammo or baby food with chalk in it. Or generally The roles of each were pretty well set in stone after a few months of shtf. I guess maybe there could be a new paradigm but if history has anything to say I will be hedging my bets on that not 45 yrs of femenism that has backfired on both sexes.

  • @
@Uzeil218 years ago For 99% of what preppers are actually prepping for its something of a moot point, if we're smart we're prepping for power outages, floods, bad winters, limited economic collapse, ect. The current roles of men and women vary little in these events.
But that's boring stuff so I assume everyone is talking about hardcore SHTF...
Women spend 20-40% of their time being irrational due to hormones.
The good ones are aware of this, those are the ones who have the advantages. Practical, skill oriented and pragmatic on the outside. Nurturing, matriarchal, care oriented on the inside.
Listening to some of these women... well, not all of them are going to have any advantages. A couple of them are incredibly naive and ignorant. I doubt they even realize how nonsensical what they're saying actually is. I don't think a lot of women anticipate the reality that they will no longer be taken seriously as leaders or thinkers by men during SHTF, that is simply the reality of the situation, no sexist.
In general, if a woman is among a group of men and she is the only one who possesses the skills of survival those men would be fools to reject her leadership, but it seems as though female peppers are unlikely to find themselves in that scenario as their preps usually include a prepared group with a predetermined social order.
The reality is, when most of us think of the women we know, the vast majority are remembered as burdens, not assets. Is that intrinsic to the female condition? Maybe, ...maybe its societies fault, more likely a combination of both. We would find out in one or to generations following a global SHTF, but the initial survivors will very much be burdened with finding out.
I suppose its fair to say that women who ARE preppers, as in right now, likely have few of these disadvantages and the majority of these advantages. Its a shame they are such a minority.

@stevew61388 years ago Canadian Prepper, I have a question for you. When you say SHTF are we talking about a 1929 like crash and depression that leaves society more or less intact but in sever hardship? Or is the SHTF a Mad Max world. The reason I ask is simple, each scenario will have different and profound reality for women. If its Mad Max you only have to look at history to see the fate of women.  If your history is a bit rusty I could give a brief  overview if you like. ...

@kesslerminerva1018 years ago There are some interesting linguistic links between the ancient Sumerians and the present day Hopi Indians. Additionally, almost all of the old Hopi Indian Prophecies seem to have already come true for America. There only seems to be one left, the Blue Star Kachina Prophecy. Perhaps this is the International Space Station. Also, according to the prophecies, the Hopi Indian Reservation seems to offer HOPE for surviving WW3. Please read the prophecies. ...

@ancientmum8 years ago So a womyn's priorities have to be different than a man's because she is more at risk for illness and death. Today a womyn can get a yeast infection and recover quickly with a simple treatment, very common. However, in a worse case scenario, that yeast infection can kill her. Menstruating girls and womyn are at high risk of infections to her uterus and kidneys because it is, after all, bleeding from an open wound inside her body, and easy pathway to the blood stream. Cleanliness is a must! When doctors and medicines are not readily available, womyn may die way more easily than men just from menstruating and child birth. ... 1
