The Kakonko District Council cross border market is part of the implementation of the East African Community (EAC) Common Market Protocol composed of Burundi, Kenya, Rwanda, South Sudan, Tanzania, and Uganda and part of the UN Tanzania Kigoma Joint Programme’s Youth and Women Economic Empowerment Programme. UNCDF supported Kakonko District Council by facilitating the replication of the successful Kibaha Town Councils Public-Private Community Partnership (PPCP) model at the Mnarani market that leverages significant investments from the local private sector and the public institutions to build and to operate. © UN Capital Development Fund 2020.
