The Belarus based artist has become a staple of the US imprint since making his debut in 2017. Now in a year highlighted with releases on Cid Inc’s Replug Records and Hernan Cattaneo’s Sudbeat Music, Michael returns to Ghost Digital with ‘Selections’. Beginning with the title cut Michael explores the pure progressive sound he’s become so loved for. Free and flowing from the outset its full low end is perfectly contoured, providing copious tension while detailed drums and crisp electronics fill in the framework. As the first act evolves a glowing arp rises to prominence, perfectly setting up a wave of emotive chord changes and hopeful electronics, the latter of which ultimately highlights a gorgeous break and serene finale. The companion piece ‘Ephemeral’ follows with a somewhat deeper more meditative approach. Once again backed by a warm, full foundation, it’s a maze of finely tuned percussion, sparkling arps and dynamic stabs which push momentum forward. Trippy effects flow through the framework, adding tension with each successive loop, while a short but effective break resets the mood for a dark drop and hypnotic final movement. It rounds out a stunning two track offering from Michael, who makes an excellent return to Ghost Digital here. Highly recommended.
