Dr. Katherine King was born in Houston in 1974. She attended St John’s School for middle and high school and was accepted to the Research Science Institute the summer before her senior year. This camp solidified her interests in research and the sciences. At Harvard, she studied Biochemical Sciences and was involved in the Freshman Outdoor Program as a participant and as a leader. This introduced her to the field of medicine, which she would combine with her research interests in an MD-PhD program at Washington St. Louis School of Medicine. From there, she would specialize in pediatrics and complete a fellowship in pediatric infectious diseases at Baylor College of Medicine. Her career in medicine includes research on blood marrow stem cells, patient care, and advocacy through the nonprofit, Doctors for Change.
