Helmut Ellersieck was born in Rostock, Germany in the year 1886. At the age of fourteen, Ellersieck began his violin making apprenticeship under Ernest Kreul in Markneukirchen. In 1927, Ellersieck emigrated to the United States, and continued his splendid violin making career in Los Angeles. This cello is currently in excellent condition. Beautifully chosen wood, and a golden, lustrous varnish. Tremendous tone. Powerful and warm.
